The Greater Pittsburgh region is full of ethnic, religious, and linguistic diversity.

SV Temple
Modeled after the world-renowned Venkateswara Temple of Tirupati, Sri Venkateswara Temple (SV Temple) is one of the earliest Hindu temples in the USA. SV Temple was constructed at an approximate cost of $925,000 donated by over six thousand devotees from all over the country. The ground-breaking ceremony for the Temple took place on June 30, 1976.

Displaying the seventh century temple architecture from India, the ivory white temple on a hilltop is constructed according to the ancient temple construction manuals called "Agama Shastras." The temple is built in the form of the divine body where two sides represent two hands, and the top of the temple represents the head. The main deity Lord Venkateswara, a representation of Lord Vishnu, rests in the innermost cell called the Garbha-graha (sanctum sanctorum).
